Germs are on everything we touch it seems

Many grocery stores have a container of antibacterial moist wipes at their front doors, so that you can wipe the handles of the shopping cart before you use it. It makes you wonder if other companies should be doing something similar.

Should Limo drivers keep their vehicles stocked with hand wipes for passengers?

Should there be hand sanitizer for library patrons.

The fact is, there are germs in places that many of us just don’t realize.

Germ laden culprit:

Lemon wedges in restaurants.

Details:

Tests have been done on the lemons that were perched onto glasses in many establishments. The majority were harboring disease causing microbes.

What to do:

If you must squeeze some juice, don’t then throw the lemon into your drink.

The culprit:

Airplane bathrooms.

Details:

It isn’t surprising that airplanes have a lot of bacteria considering how many people use them. They bathrooms are not only claustrophobic, they also aren’t the cleanest. Almost all surfaces tested positive for E coli.

What to do:

Wash your hands and use antibacterial wipes a few times on the plane.

The culprit:

Restaurant menus.

Details:

You would expect a restaurant to be clean. Or at least a little clean. But because so many people go there things get picked up. Restaurant menus are the worst. Menus are passed around so much that illnesses stick to them. The cold and flu virus can survive eighteen hours on a hard surface.

What to do:

Wash hands after making a choice.

The culprit:

Bathroom door handles.

Details:

This one is obvious. Things go in things go out. Urgent mothers forget to wash hands after changing the diapers of a screaming baby, people not caring.

What to do:

When escaping these germ havens uses a paper towel to block your skin from the door handle.

The culprit:

Carts at the grocery store.

Details:

Almost all of these carts tested positive for fecal matter. A public bathroom and a shopping cart have almost the same amount of bacteria.

What to do:

One should definitely skip the samples and avoid touching your face at all.

The culprit:

The doctor’s office.

Details:

Like a hospital your sick going in and getting out. People are sick, and then they sneeze in their hands and touch things.

What to do:

Bring your own books and magazines; you never know what you’re going to pick up.
