Protecting yourself at the job-what does it mean?

In the past, protecting yourself at work usually meant learning some coping mechanisms for dealing with toxic coworkers. By watching the news just a little bit it becomes very clear that there are dangers to us that are much worse.

Teachers are now allowed to carry guns when they go to work.

In South Dakota it is now legal for a teacher to be armed while in school and on the job. This is in reaction to the horrible Sandy Hook Elementary tragedy. South Dakota is the first state, but it will not be the last to pass these measures. There is talk about this all over the country. If the NRA had their way, there would be armed guards in every school across the country.

Alabama already allows guns in public schools. The law states, as long as the gun carrier is not intending bodily harm or is a not a habitual drunkard, they can carry that gun.

We all want our kids to be safe. Everyone wants to stay safe at work as well. The laws on who can carry a gun and where they can go do vary from state to state.

Alaska, Arizona, Wyoming, and Vermont:

In these states it is legal to carry a concealed weapon. The odd thing about that is the fact that people don’t have to have a permit to do so.

Vermont and weapons:

If you are 16 in Vermont, you can buy your own gun and carry it concealed. You don’t even need to get your parents’ permission to do this.

17 states allow employees to bring guns to work with them, no matter what the boss says. As long they keep the gun locked up in their cars, it is ok.

35 states have laws that let people carry their guns openly and that is without a permit.

Indiana and North Dakota:

You can sue your employer if they even ask about you possessing a gun.
