Steps to Proper Limo Maintenance

Keeping a limo fleet running well is crucial to business. Safety is also a top concern. A limo company is responsible for the safety and well being of their passengers, so making sure that everything is in order at all times is necessary.

Stay on top of maintenance:

1-Follow the suggestions of the owner’s manual.

This is pretty basic advice, but the manual is the best source of info. It will also come in handy when there are different opinions about when something should be checked.

2-Pay attention to any changes.

If something sounds different when starting up or driving it is important to note this and get it checked. The same holds true for any changes in how the vehicle feels when driving.

3-Engine issues.

Checking the oil very frequently is recommended. If the vehicle is using more oil than previously it can mean a few different issues are present. When the vehicle is using more gas and the fuel economy is suffering, it might be time for a tune up. The same holds true if the engine idle has become rough.

4-Steering and tires.

It is amazing how much trouble underinflated tires can cause. It can make the vehicle wander to one side when driving. It will cause more gas usage. If a tire is severely underinflated then it can cause a blowout at high speeds. If the tires are not balanced regularly it can wear out both steering and suspension components faster than they should. It will also cause some vibration.

5-Suspension.

Bouncing is not fun in a limo. If there is a new amount of bounce when going over bumps that previously caused no problems then the shocks could be in trouble. To test the shocks easily you just need to actually push on the vehicle at each wheel and observe the bouncing. If the shocks are starting to go they will bounce several times.

6-Brake maintenance.

The brakes need to be maintained regularly for safety and too keep repair costs down. Listen and feel for scraping. That will mean new pads unless you wait too long and you might have to replace the rotors or drums. If the brake light comes on or the brake pedal is going all the way down it is impotent to check the fluid immediately.
