A luxurious ride for time travel or any other event! Fans of the time traveling DeLorean would love to have the chance to rent the Limo version for their next special occasion. Who wants one of those giant hummer limo’s when something as ultracool as this DeLorean is available?
Back story:
Created by a software engineer, Rich Weissensel, who has a long time love of the DeLorean. In the past Rich became well known because of his DeLorean monster truck. There is a very popular video of him trying to maneuver this vehicle, and avoid a Ferrari in the process, on YouTube. The limo is his latest creation built from a DeLorean. He has also customized a DeLorean Hovercraft and a convertible version of the famous car.
Limo Specs:
If you were worrying whether or not the DeLorean Limousine has stayed close to the original, there is pleasant news. The doors and the seats do all look the same as the original car.
-Six Doors: The three sets of the iconic gull wing doors pop open for each row of seats.
-Length: approximately 26 feet, with a wheel base of 240 inches.
-Seats: It appears that there are two buckets seats per row. That would mean that the vehicle could carry six people including the driver. The bucket seats are reminiscent of the originals.
Planning:
This vehicle took a lot of time and some serious work. The cars that the project began with were both in such bad repair that they were going to be used just for parts. The project started in 2005 and was not completed until mid 2012. It was definitely a labor of love to put something together such as this.
For Rent or to See More?
Since there is only one of these incredible limo’s in existence, it is not something that the average Joe will be able to rent out for that super special occasion. There are appearances however where us regular folks can at least get a look at this car. There are DeLorean clubs about whose members will undoubtedly flock to see a viewing. In October of 2012 there will be a DMC event in the Gilmore Museum, located near Kalamazoo Mi. This is probably a good place to spot Rich Weissensel with his DeLorean Limo.
